Personal Experiences with Rape Culture

I started this blog because I know I have many personal experiences with rape culture and I know many other people do too. I think those experiences should be shared. If you have an experience I would love for you to share it, the submission button is always open. Anything I've written myself is tagged "rcr" if you're interested in tracking it.

Okay so this is stemming from a conversation going on with a guy I know. He really like’s big girls (awesome!) but when he approaches them and hits on them he gets all upset when they’re not interested or get mad/creeped out by it (not awesome). He get’s turned down by a girl and when he KEEPS GOING she gets mad then he goes on to say something along the following:

“Women get mad at chubby chasers, like me, for liking them because they’re fat. Are gingers gonna be mad because I like them for having red hair? Or is the lady with the big boobs? You guys need to stop being mad at us and appreciate you are the object of someone’s affections because no one wants to be alone crying into a pillow having a pity party.”

Now a bunch of the girls basically step in telling him to check himself before he wrecks himself. We’re simple about it, frank and we’re not insulting him in the least. Everyone’s calm and basically saying the same thing about how it’s not cool to tell girls that they should ‘appriciate being objectified because society for the most part thinks big girls are ugly.’ He still doesn’t get it. So I show him a webpage that defines what being objectified is. It simply explains the theory and why many women see objectification as a problem.

Then the shit hit’s the fan and he FLOUNCES. Just all out toddler tantrums. He says that because he’s male that he’s a bad guy and if all men are bad guys and girls don’t want to be objectified that they should be wearing burqas so they can hide their tempting beauty from men.

From there the girls literally have to stop him. Point blank he starts acting like a child and when we call him out on it, he then starts complaining we’re treating him like a child. Then he goes on to say that he JUST DOESN’T UNDERSTAAAAND, and WHY WON’T ANYONE EXPLAIN IT TO MEEEE~ YOU GUYS ARE SO MEAN!!!!! I JUST LIKE BIG PRETTY GIRLS!!! BAW!

Then people start attacking me because obviously sending him a link that says “this is what objectification is” is an EXTREME thing to do because it talks about feminism.  Then I get this gem from one of the girls: IT’S HIS OPINION AND WE SHOULDN’T TELL HIM THAT IT’S WRONG BECAUSE THAT DOESN’T SOLVE ANYTHING. NOT EVERYTHING IS A SOCIAL JUSTICE CRUSADE, YOU FEMINIST!

So… Now I’m just pissed. These people go from one minute talking about how objectifying a girl and not taking no for an answer is not okay, to saying ‘You know, it’s actually okay because feminism is so extreme and you’re using it to bully this poor guy who just got his heart broken.’
